I don’t think they could capture the same horrific strangeness with the current style of films. It is too literal and all priority is put on extreme realism. (Not that this is bad, but it wouldn’t work out for a story like this. What medium would they use? Probably 3D animation. It just wouldn’t fit.) Just read the book instead. It’s much better than the movie anyway. (Except I do love this opening scene.)

Oh my goodness! How charming and beautiful! I can’t believe I’ve never came across this magnificent work in the past… Bravo!

I profoundly hope this book is never remade into another film. Presumably with Matt Damon and Samuel L. Jackson voicing various rabbits. And stupefyingly overextended action sequences. With a torture scene.

@Miramax7000 Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois are probably are only hope for modern day movie classics :/ (there the producers of Lilo and Stitch and How to Train your Dragon)
However, you are very right, this movie will and has stand the test of time
We really need Martin Rosen back D: (the directer of this movie)
Have hope comrade, for according the the questionable wikipedia, there might be a remake. . . .however don’t have your hopes up on who the directer will be :/

Truly classic film. Will stand the test of time (already has) much better than a lot of modern day stuff.

@Fiorwestcoast
Yeah and everything that causes the least bit of friction will result in a massive explosion, also one of the rabbits are replaced completely by sean connery.
