……and violent blooms of flowered dresses… I love these guys. If I met one of them I wouldn’t even ask for an autograph – just hand them my wallet and ask them to be gentle and tell them of my lurve…
Graduated that same year then went into the air force – where I first heard this song and it was the same for me…memories of sitting playing guitar and singing with friends – writing epic ballads of this type…memories harsh and soft all at once.
What Jack do you think of when you hear the line “brother of the famous Jack”, There are so many famous Jacks. For some reason I always think of Jack the Ripper.
This song will forever remind me of the summer of ’96, just after graduation. Working at a shitty job, but driving around at lunch and enjoying listening to this album with a now-departed dear friend.
My brother put this song on a mixed tape (an actual tape) when I moved out to California almost 10 years ago. I moved to Santa Cruz and really understood what this song meant there. The photo montage makes me miss it there. Thanks Cracker.

@Beatrix13 That’s a bold statement but I can’t disagree. This is a masterpiece that nobody even knows.

I bought carrot juice at Kroger today, just because I was sitting on the Kroger steps. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get myself a new tattoo.

The live version on the ‘Hello Cleveland’ CD is probably one of the best live performances I’ve ever heard, from any band-

Hardest working band in the business, and one of the best at that. Long live Johnny and Dave!

I remember listening to this song as a 14 year old boy, wondering what this life will have to offer to me…the song is beautiful…and I agree: timeless!
